C3: How to Make Sense of Evidence- Based Practice

This workshop will provide a brief summary of the evolution of evidenced-based practice (EBP), offer a definition of the term, and discuss the implications for treatment. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will report a deeper understanding of evidence-based practice
  • Participants will be able to clearly define evidence-based practice.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least one way this information could or will impact their practice in their particular treatment context.

Presenter Bio:

Barry Winstead M.Div., M.A., LMFT is currently the Clinical Director at Kilgore Samaritan Counseling Center in Louisville, KY. Prior to this position he was the Clinical Director at Open Door Youth Services in New Albany, IN. He is on the clinical faculty of the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is an AAMFT Approved Clinical Supervisor and in this capacity provides supervision to marriage and family therapists. In his 20 years of clinical experience, he has provided care across the continuum of care from inpatient acute care, to residential, to traditional outpatient settings. He has a particular interest in common factors research and application, and Ericksonian therapy.
