D3: Treatment Planning for Complex Trauma

The purpose of the presentation is to describe the complexity of trauma and the implication for treatment planning and program development. The presentation reviews data related to trauma and personal characteristics about 155 youth and how that data was utilized to create strategies to develop individualized treatment plans and enhance program component related to complex trauma. These strategies are then discussed in an interactive group activity centered on designing program and treatment plans for youth in programs of the participants.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will identify two patterns of complex trauma.
  • Participants will connect how complex trauma leads to complex symptoms presentations.
  • Participants will identify a strategy for creating treatment plans for youth with complex trauma.

Presenter Bios:

Hugh Hanlin, Ph.D., HSPP, CSAYC has served as the licensed psychologist for Ascent 121 since 2014.  He is a licensed psychologist, certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is credentialed in working with sexually maladaptive and traumatized youth.

Trisha Prickett, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker for Ascent 121. She currently provides consultation and training to agency serving youth victimized in human trafficking.
