StepStone Family and Youth Services provides the full spectrum of support to children in need of safe and stable living environment with licensed foster homes and community-based services.  Homemaker-Parent Aid/Visitation Facilitator

Job Description

The Homemaker/Parent Aid engages with clients referred by the Department of Child Services and/or Juvenile Probation to assist them in identifying individual and family strengths to overcome the barriers and challenges that resulted in system involvement.  Homemaker/Parent will provide education, training, mentoring and support to clients in their homes or other community locations.  The Homemaker/Parent Aid position requires consistent exercise of critical thinking skills on matters of significance regarding the health and safety of children and their families/caregivers.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES.  The position includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Provide supervision of visits between children and parents maintaining the safety of the children at all times.
  • Monitor the welfare of children who are placed in the parent’s home.
  • Assist clients with parenting training, and basic needs training such as nutrition, budgeting and independent living skills as needed.
  • Assist clients with available resources such as shelters, food banks, etc.
  • Provide thorough documentation including treatment plans, progress notes and reports.
  • Frequent, timely and close collaboration with referral source, co-workers, other providers, StepStone Family and Youth Supervisors and office staff.

Travel expectations:   Local travel required

Candidate Qualifications:  

The Homemaker/Parent Aid will have a high school diploma or equivalency with a minimum of one (1) year experience working with families, children, and/or community resources.   The Homemaker/Parent Aid should also possess knowledge of community resources and child and adult development.  He/she should be comfortable working with a culturally diverse population and able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.  Finally, the Homemaker/Parent Aid must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance and be able to pass all required criminal and child welfare background checks

Community Specialist 

Salary range:  Starting at $18.00 an hour and based on relevant experience and education.

Community Based Therapist 

Salary range:  Starting at $23 an hour and based on relevant experience and education.

Licensure: Can start with pending temporary license application.

Job Description: The Community Based Therapist engages with clients referred by the Department of Child Services and/or Juvenile Probation to assist them in identifying individual and family strengths to overcome the barriers and challenges that resulted in system involvement.  Community Based Therapists provide evidence based therapeutic services in clients’ homes or other community locations.   Our therapists work with individuals and families.  The Community Based Therapist position requires consistent exercise of critical thinking skills on matters of significance regarding the health and safety of children and their families/caregivers.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES.  The position includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Individual and family therapy 
  • Monitor the welfare of children who are placed in the parent’s home.
  • Assist clients with overcoming barriers to access available resources.
  • Provide thorough documentation including treatment plans, progress notes and reports.
  • Frequent, timely and close collaboration with referral source, co-workers, other providers, StepStone Family and Youth Supervisors and office staff.

Candidate Qualifications:  The Community Based Therapist will have one of the following: 

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree with a current license issued by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board or
  • Master’s degree with a temporary permit issued by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board. 

The Community Based Therapist should possess knowledge of community resources, family issues,  child and adult development and abuse/neglect.    He/she should be comfortable working with a culturally diverse population and able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.  Finally, the Community Specialist must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance and be able to pass all required criminal and child welfare background checks.
