Clinical Supervision: Building Key Competencies

Given the current challenges confronting behavioral health service providers, Clinical Supervisors are faced with a number of significant questions as perform this critical role: How much time can I allocate to this important activity while I am serving multiple roles?  How do I structure an effective Clinical Supervision program and what are the best ways to document it?  How do I assess the performance of my supervisees? What is the best way to approach problematic supervisees?

In response to these questions, the primary goal of this training is to improve clinical supervisors’ ability to effectively supervise their therapists and counselors. This workshop is designed to provide tools for performance improvement and methods to enhance clinical workflow to clinical supervisors. Through this training, supervisors will learn:

  • Impact of cultural diversity and sensitivity on the clinical supervision process
  • 3 Models of Clinical Supervision
  • Legal & Ethical Components of Supervision (applied for 1.0 Ethics CEH)
  • Methods of Documentation
  • Systems to promote the quality and compliance of supervisees’ service documentation
  • Return to their programs with concrete tools to enhance their current supervision programs
