North Carolina Family Assessment Scales

The IARCA Institute Outcome Measures Project added the North Carolina Family Assessment Scales (NCFAS) to its tools in 2017 on a limited basis. Working with our partners at the National Family Preservation Network, the IARCA Institute adopted NCFAS as a central assessment tool to the Project in 2020.

The following are resources that Project participants might find helpful in learning about NCFAS and improving your use of the tool.

NCFAS training - powerpoint slides

In 2019, IARCA staff provided several half-day in-person trainings on the use of NCFAS. This training was a required component for staff at Project participant agencies who would be using the tool. While the trainings themselves were not recorded, you can review the slides from the training.

NCFAS Training Level II

In last 2020, IARCA staff hosted four webinars to provide additional training on using of NCFAS. With an eye focused on improving reliability between staff using NCFAS, the two hour training covered some best practices for using the scales and included a detailed case study. The trainings were organized around four basic types of services: home-based, residential, foster care, and older youth services. Below, you'll find a link to each training, the materials that go with the training, and pre- and post-tests.
